[VAL] What I did for a bed...and it worked pretty well...

Hello Jim,

I know all too well what it's like to toss and turn all night long, never
finding a sweet spot which will last for more than twenty minutes, and it's
aGRRRRivating to say the least.

I too looked into the space foam toppers and found quite a range of prices out
there. The absolutely very best deal I found was through Overstock.com's
(new) auction site. There's a guy called "Mr. Foam" who has them at auction,
and they sell for a whole lot less than anywhere else I found.

I bought two of them, one for the Revcon, and one for the house, so I'd have
the same bed whether on the road, or at home wishing I was. I ended up paying
$120 for the double bed at home, and $160 for the Cal King for the Revcon.
Both were 4" thick. And, if that wasn't a good enough deal (though it
certainly was, relative to Tempur Pedic!), the shipping was the icing on the
cake: one cent each. And the things weigh a LOT...much much more than an
over the counter piece of foam, and a whole lot more than I expected.

The only bummer is that, once they've arrived, you have to open the box and
let them unfold themselves, to avoid tearing the foam, and can't sleep on them
for 24 hours. Waiting has never been easy for me...

I hope that helps you, and everybody else who's tired of just barely sleeping
all night, except for the last hour, then having to get up and face the world
with aches and pains all over again.

Now, if I wake up in the night, it's usually to recycle some of the water I've
been drinking all day, trying to keep cool here in Middle California.

I just checked to see if Mr. Foam was still doing his thing...he is and here's
a direct link to his auctions at Overstock:

Mark in Modesto, feeling better than before.

ps. Another alternative, which I didn't explore, is the good ol' bean bag.
It would be lighter than the space foam and, since you'd probably have to
construct it yourself, the thickness would be up to you. Just a thought...
