Hi Gary,

Well, I finally got the nut off the back of the shock bracket and you were
right about  the split rubber.  Worked just fine as described in the service
manual.  Though, the nut only had about an eighth of an inch clearance to
remove it.  A real pain to wrench out, but it did like it was supposed to.
No need to bend the bracket.
