[VAC] Tire question

Hi all,

Started out for the Grnd Canyon this a.m., sort of a "shakedown" for the
31' 1975 Sovereign we bought 3 weeks ago. Turned out to be just that,
:-)

I had looked at the tires closely, and they had good tread, no checking,
and held pressure, so I thought they were OK. After 47 miles at 60 mph
the front tire of the right paid threw it's tread. Shook the bejabbers
out of everything, that did. Put the spare on and checked the others,
and saw some tread starting to come off the left front.

No one sells trailer tires on Sunday. Very few people in the Phoenix
metro area sell tires at all on Sunday.

We eased back home hoping the tires would hold, and are now waiting for
tomorrow to come so we can buy 5 new shoes.

My question: The existing tires are ST225 75R15's with 8-ply
sidewalls. The guy at Isley's RV said I could just use regular RV
tires. Is he putting me on? I think regular tires might flex too much.

Also, I've heard Cooper tires are best for trailers. Any opinions on
this?

Hope to get this settled tomorrow so we can at least use the balance of
our pre-paid campsite at the Canyon.

Thanks in advance,

Roger Hightower
