You are right, but I didn't even know the pump had an automatic  pressure 
switch on it until it failed. I always just turned the pump  on and off as 
needed.   I'm a little concerned that the automatic feature might turn the 
pump on when the tank was out of water, thus running the battery down. I 
rarely use the pump anyway. Here in the East, the state  and county parks 
have water hookups. The Everglades National park  is about the only place I 
take it that doesn't.
