Re: Charlie Burke Re: [VAL] WBCCI dues, etc. and running at large
Tom,
OK, make sure I've got this right. You're not complaining, just stating
the facts as you know them. Yet you throw out all kinds of conjecture
about why things were done like "to rigid, old-guard types, has lots of
militarism, the WBCCI leadership was "afraid" of people *stealing?*"
Actually I did answer some of you questions. But if you feel because I
did is "talking down to you" that is unfortunate. The answers I provided
were based on "facts" I gathered by asking questions of the right
people. Apology accepted.
When I have a complaint or question I ask the people in charge. Maybe
that's just my background but I'm not afraid to get in just about
anybody's face if I think something is wrong. My comments, constructive
and otherwise are directed at the people that can change things.
This particular rally was one where I had a great deal of
responsibilities to my home unit. My time was spent "taking care of
business" them, not socializing as I would have preferred to do. Next
year will be different. If I, or my wife, have committed a social faux
pa, we do apologize. Perhaps we can make it up next year?
I have known Hunter for many, many years. Do you really thing she holds
sway over what I think or do, really?
Last year was our first International. Our registration packet included
a hard copy of the posting at WBCCI and we received the packet from
WBCCI. Why rely on others when you can get the information yourself?
Even the folks on this or several others would be glad to help any first
timer or one that has not been able to attend in a while.
If you will go back and look at your pictures you might be able to see
that there was no electrical of any kind in the empty area's. The club
had to scramble at the last minute to bring wire in for the late
arrivals in Purple 1. They did not come prepared to wire the parking
area. A contractor was paid to provide a specific number of connections
based on preregistration and past experience. When they ran out of
connections there was a waiting list of folks (not all, but some) in 3
amp that wanted in. I won't enter in to conjecture, but your "fact" of
why they were separate is not consistent with past Internationals.
While there are separate color sections, they have always tried to keep
everyone together within the space available. Dayton would have made
you crazy, there were little groups scatter all over.
As I said before I direct my "suggestions" to those who listen and can
affect change. I have been a member only long enough to get my first
star, hardly one of the "old guard". I've spent my time enjoying the
people, the travel, and figuring out how things work. That so I can make
positive contribution, constructively within the system to affect change
to the system. My comments on this or any forum are provided to give
clarification, pass along experiences from my life and the dealership I
worked for, and encourage newer members. Of course I don't expect to
please everyone, we are all individuals after all. I believe as many
have stated, the club needs to update. I also believe the way to make
changes is from the inside. And that's what I am doing.
