Hi Phil,

I went into Sears' tool department whining about the same problem, and
there was a tool god there who recommended a ratchet screw dirver that
has an angled handle on it, black, comes with a bunch of bits, including
sockets.  It lets you bear down on the screw better than a regular screw
driver. And of course, exactly the right screw tip size is important
too.  Another trick, especially for phillips head, is take a disposeable
ie cheap phillips and pound it in to deepen the slots.

Also be sure that you have cleaned out the screw head well, with an
exacto for example.
