Ya Gotta love it. Just when a generally accepted origin settles in, another
ones comes along. Most of what I have seen had Wally working for a dealer
in the mid '30's building and selling various brands of RV's, including
a flat sided one he called the Airstream. One of the others he was selling
was the Bowlus Road King designed and built by William Bowlus. At some
point in late 35 or early 36 Bowlus quit production and Wally supposedly
ask for and got from Bowlus the rights to use the Bowlus design. Wally
then modified the design into what became the new Airstream.
