Re: [VAC] Before I reinact the Hindenburg using an A/S....

Chris,
Sounds like you did a good job, congrats!

These systems are really Rocket Science, and aren't beyond the ken of
someone with a little common sense and experience on other, similar
stuff. The key is to pay attention to what you're doing, THINK about how
it works, and be careful through the entire process.

Pressures in our LP systems are only 11" of water column, much less than
you can generate by blowing with your mouth. You can easily build a
'U-tube manometer' to verify this if you wish. Of course, leaks of any
kind can be very dangerous, so you need to be careful with your
reassembly and check it for leaks when you're done.

If it 'feels right' when your job is complete, it probably IS 'right'.
The converse also holds true.

The CO detector won't detect a propane leak, BTW:, just Carbon Monoxide
from incomplete combustion. Remember the Poor Man's Leak Detector: make
sure that the pilot light on your stove is turned 'Off', open the valve
on your supply tank so the switcher indicator goes 'Green', then close
the valve and wait. If there's no leakage anyplace, the indicator should
stay 'Green' forever, at least in theory. If it goes 'Red' quickly, you
have a leak someplace. Soapy water is the way to check, never use a
match.
