Re: [VAC] Fwd: Flickering Lights Puzzle

Mary Ellen & Evan,
It sounds like you have a poor connection someplace. Yes, the vehicle
will supply 12VDC to the trailer when it's connected, and that's the
clue.

If your '67 is like my '68, it has a control panel with circuit breakers
and fuses. The hot battery lead from the tow vehicle comes to that panel
and feeds the 12VDC buss. So does the hot lead from the on-board
battery. If the latter has a poor connection someplace, it'll give
exactly the symptoms you describe.

Judicious use of a DVM (digital voltmeter) will show you where the
voltage drop is, it should take you about 15 minutes to find it.

Note that your trailer probably has aluminum wiring. If you're smart,
you'll get some anti-oxidant paste from your local hardware store and
use it on all wiring connections. Undo each connection, including the
wire-nuts in the ceiling at the light fixtures, coat them with the
paste, and twist the wirenut securely.
