Uh Ralph, Bad advice there .... 'Split rims' are a misnomer for locking rims and hardly any tire dealers work on them anymore because of the liability. There has to be a cage to change them in for starters ..... Not to mention the tires are a 'tubed' type and you have to change the tubes with the tires. The hole for the tube does not accept a standard valve stem and cannot be used with a tubeless tire. The only reason to keep a locking rim would be for authenticity in a much older vintage coach or travel trailer for the purpose of concourse or show judging. Locking rims are not practical and offer no practical advantage. A Carlisle six inch 6 x 5.5 white spoke wheel is about $35 at Discount Tire. ---------------------------------------- > From: rcooke@bak.rr.com > To: sslist@tompatterson.com > Subject: RE: [SilverStreak] Re: Silver Streak Digest V1 #577 Help with getting new tires > Date: Tue, 6 May 2008 11:43:41 -0700 > > Sherylyn, > > You MUST change the tires.
