RE: [VAL] Toilet Ring

Dan
I had the same problem a few years ago with my '68, I took a long piece of
flat metal and cut it out on one end to fit the notches. It took about a 3
foot long piece to break it loose. I don't recommend using any hammering -
just pressure and leverage.

I have the shower base, sink, etc. from my '67 Caravel all out to refinish
them and I'm fighting with the ring connecting the toilet to the small
holding tank. There is the ring that the toilet actually mounts to, which
seems to be held in place by a black ABS collar/reducer which is threaded
and screwed into the top of the holding tank. It has a couple of notches in
it, apparently for a spanner wrench, which I don't have. But I improvised
with a piece of key stock cut to fit and a T-handle big enough to really put
some torque on it. But it won't budge.

Anyone have any experience with breaking that loose?

Thanks,

dan
