RE: [VAL] Re: EU 2000

A bit more information. While doing some repair work on a SkyDeck, we had
the opportunity to monitor the actual loads from two 13500 BTU Penguins.
With temps over 100 degrees, humidity running high, in the full sun, each
unit's start current was around 31-32 amps (ie close to 3500W), quickly
dropping to around 12amps, but then creeping back to settle just under
20amps with the blower on high (ie about 2400W). This is normal, per
Dometic, for the conditions. This means, that a single 2000W unit would be
inadequate even to run, let alone start, a 13500 under the above conditions.
Also working against the 2000W unit is altitude. Higher altitude lowers the
actual output capacity of a genset since the engine has less oxygen (ie as
the genset load climbs, the engine can't keep up and so it lugs down and the
genset faults).

The little Honda and Yamaha 2000W units are great for many situations and
they are ideal in the physical size and weight categories, but unless you
plan to buy 2 and parallel them (only the Yamaha and Honda have the parallel
capability), you will be disappointed in many if not most situations where
you might want to run the AC.

I seriously considered going the 2 each, 2000W path, but the electric start,
tri-fuel and remote control startup won me over to the larger EF30iSEB
Yamaha, despite its larger size and considerable weight.
