[VAL] Re: VAL Digest V2 #343 subfloor hardener

Thanks for all the tips and tricks from the list. The welder is coming
tomorrow and a new waste tank pan is being fabricated this week.

I hope to have a lot of progress completed by Labor day. The hardest
part, aside from just finding some of the great, suggested materials,
will be deciding on just how to get the floor in and still have room
underneath for the waste tank to fit. I am trying to keep to a minimum
the amount of floor I actually replace and use a thin enough, but strong
enough "splicing" material under each seam to glue and screw to. I
don't think (yet, further analysis to come) there is enough room between
the underside of the subfloor and the top of the waste tank and pan to
use 5/8" or 3/4" strips.

Any guidance or thoughts on that will be welcome.

And yes, my subfloor is 3/4" in my 1970. That's a minor problem with
all the new stuff being 23/32nds. But a little filler or a shim will
remedy that.

Oh - also. Of those sealers like Minwax or West Systems #105, can I use
vinyl floor adhesive on top of them or should I lay down my area of
vinyl and then seal up to the vinyl? I wouldn't necessarily seal the
whole floor anyway, as the vinyl would be good protection, but the
overlap of bare floor to vinyl areas are of concern. I don't want to
degrade the sealant nor do I need the floor coming unglued. But all of
those areas will be behind the fiberglass panels out of eye sight.

Thanks and I am taking pics and will update the list of how it goes.
