Hi Ann,

The Honda Ei series of generators are lightweight, easy to 
start, and VERY quiet.

A lot of folks use electric heaters, and that outlet is 
fused so you should be OK.

If the gas heater you mention is a catalytic heater, you 
should get a gas person to check it out for safety and get 
he/she to show you how to light it. I am leery of gas too, 
but it is so much easier to use than starting up the 
generator and fetching the gasoline and so on. You do need 
to leave one window cracked for ventilation.

If you are talking about a gas furnace, you would need 
electricity hook up  or the generator to run it overnight, 
since the fan uses a lot of power.

Where are you doing this and what time of year ?
