Daisy,

This needs the advice of an electrician or electrical engineer, but as 
an accountant speaking, I believe that a 12V battery is actually 13.2V 
and since it is the battery which runs the lights, they should be 
receiving only the 13.2V and not what the charger outputs to charge the 
battery.

Since the lights are 12V (actually 13.2V) I don't know how you could be 
overfeeding them.
