I think using only half the thickness of the bolt means only half (at 
best) of the strength you want. That's the reason for putting the lock 
set in the wall. By the way, in my house, the lockset is mounted on the 
door with the bolt going into the frame or wall. The home use sets 
available now seem to be very sturdy and we did not have to use high 
speed drill as best I remember. Other that that, I agree with 
everything you said, Dean.
