Re: [VAL] Riv-nuts are an answer
The rivnuts use a machine screw thread pitch which is a lot finer pitch than
say a sheet metal screw would be.
To install rivnuts you also need a notching tool for the precisely sized
drilled hole for starters. And you need a rivnut pulling tool which can be
of the squeeze handled variety or the smaller sized unit which uses wrenches
to pull the rivnut instead. A notching tool is essential as the rivnut has
an index underneath the wide head; the notch keeps the rivnut from spinning
in the hole. If a notching tool isn't used it can be a real headache to
drill out a spinning fastener not to forget that the head of the rivnut
needs to lay flat on the surface of the sheet material it is installed into.
