Re: [VAL] Vanessa and 289 Fairlanes

Hi RL,
Yes I really like the idea of a vintage station wagon. I think back in the
fifties and sixties they were built with a little heavier suspension and they
are much cheaper to buy than a 2 door hardtop or even 4 door.

My Grandparents went on a caravan with Wally Byam in the fifties to Mexico
and I remember they had a sales booklet titled the Airstream Story with a color
photo on the front cover of a yellow Willys Jeepster with a black convertible
top towing an early fifties Airstream Cruiser in Canyon Lands National Park.
I guess I've been hooked ever sense.

BTW Friends, If you want to see my Cruiser look on VintageAirstream.com at
Photo Archives under 1952 25' Cruiser. I just got some vintage tropical
barkcloth fabric on a dark green background that I'm going to make drapes with to
hang from the scalloped birch valances above the windows with venetian blinds.
I've never seen factory scalloped wood valances in an Airstream before.
What I love about this trailer is not only the original birch cabinets and the
original appliances, but because of the small bath and bedroom, at 25' it has
the living and kitchen area of a 30' trailer yet only weighs 2,500 lbs.
