Are you sure the bottles were moved?  As you know, I have the same
arrangement and mine weren't.  If the bottles were moved, there wouldn't be
enough clearance to rotate the jack handle (unless you have 20# unstead of
30# bottles.  Would be a knuckle buster with the 30s)

Interestingly, the '68 Safaris I've seen have the underbody spare mounting
arrangement.  In this design, the bottles are actually moved aft.  The
A-frame configuration is also widened, which allows the bottles to be
supported down between the A-frame members, rather than on top like you and
I have.
