    Actually there's a plain old Union 76 gas station here in Santa Monica
that just charges for the fuel dispensed without a
walk-to-the-pump-and-turn-it-on fee.  For those interested, it's on the
corner of 20th. & Pico Blvd.

    I'll bet he gets a lot more local business as compared to the majority
in the area who charge a minimum (usually something like $5.00).  This used
to really toast my socks when I'd go to another place and be charged that
fee to fill the 1 gallon tank I use on our sailboat.  Now of course I go to
this guy for those two tanks and the two 30 pound steel tanks on the
Caravel.
