Hi Daisy,
I own a 57 Sovereign of the Road (undergoing a floor replacement and
complete restoration) which is also 30' long. I love the old long trailers
as they weigh considerably less than the newer ones. According to the specs
it's only 3900 lbs dry. The 50's trailers were only 7' wide (except for the
50 "Limited" which is 7' 6") and lower than the later models so it punches a
smaller hole through the air while towing. The 13 panel end caps look great
too. The bathrooms in these models were huge as well. According to VW, you
could even tow it with a Eurovan.
