[VAL] Hitches???

Hello!
We just purchassed our first trailer!!
1967 Caravel in what looks to be excellent condition.
Real happy about this!!!!!
Anyway's we were wondering what type of hitching system was the most
recomended (dual cam sway control, friction sway control, etc...)
and do they act as weight distribution at the same time.
Also, it looks like our gem has the original plug still attached ,7 way round
terminals. Can one purchase an adapter to fit the modern plugs?
Any info for newbies would be greatly appreciated!
