[VAL] Dump Valve

John, this may not work for you but I have been plagued with a leaking
blackwater valve for some time. Someone else posted this fix on the list, but
I just recently took the corrective action. The fix I used was simple, I cut
the ring (thetford) off the sewer outlet and with a fernco (rubber connector
with clamps), I connected a Valtera blade valve. Total cost: about 24 bucks
and took perhaps 30 minutes to do. The sewer outler tends to flex when
cutting off the ring so I found it helpful to stabilize iti by inserting a 2"
X 2" and bracing it while using the sawall. Secondly, I made some simple
strap braces to hold the Valtera valve more sturdy when I pull the dump valve.
This required replacing the bolts in the Valtera with longer 1/4" bolts.
Please don't anyone send me a message about Thetford vs. Valtera, I am pleased
with the conversion and it works. Ned Digh
