It sounds like a Zip Dee base hinge. When I measure the vertical space I 
get 3/4" rather than 1/2". That is the space for the main rafter arm. If 
the awning was Zip Dee there should be upper bracket holes in a 3 hole 
pattern. This link: http://www.zipdeeinc.com/Contour.html shows the 
hardware breakdown at ZipDee's web site. While the heading calls it 89 
and newer the differences are minor and not at all in this area of  the 
awning.
