Re: [VAL] Pricing for vintage AS on E-Bay?

hi joy
i have been an ebay seller for about 4 years now. i sell mainly collectables
of all kinds, things available only in limited quantities and for that type
of item, ebay is a sellers market. there seems to be more demand for some
items than availability and the prices reflect it. ebay has provided a huge
market of buyers for items that were only found at a auction, surplus,
antique or second hand stores. whereas you might have to have searched for
years to find an item, now it is available instantly on ebay. i have sold
several items at 10 times their value because two bidders who had had a
history of losing auctions for a particular item got going against each
other and both were determined that they were going to get the item at
almost any cost. as a seller that puts a real smile on my face. this supply
and demand applies to airstreams as well. i know because although i have
never sold a trailer, i did purchase one on ebay and paid too much. as to
your straw man, i refer to them as a shill. unethical sellers will use them
and do all the time. not much you can do about it other than not bidding on
their future auctions. IMO, cruising through small towns and looking for the
elusive silver campers is a better way to find them. good luck on your
search
