[VAL] Re: VAL Digest V1 #230

Hi Chris and List. I have a 61 Tradewind that was originally purchased by my
aunt and uncle. My uncle did some very nice retrofits while they owned it. One
thing he did was toss the original central unit and put in two "Cat"
positively vented catalytic heaters. One up front by the door and a small one in the
bathroom. He told me he did the retrofit because they liked to camp away from
power and the cats used very little electricity and gas compared to the
original central unit. I got caught in a suprise snowstorm in Co., that night it
dropped below 20 degrees. We used the front
heater while we had guests and it kept it very comfy. After they left that
night I turned the thermostat off on the front one and just ran the one in the
bathroom. It kept the bedroom about 70 and up front it only dropped to 55. I
think they are a great way to go for boondockers. Phil
