Re: [VAL]interior wood

hi chris
from your description, your interior veneers and finish are like mine. (66
safari) i too believe the veneers are ash. i went to several hardwood stores
and found ash plywood (mdf) but the grain pattern of the new stuff was much
straighter and not nearly as wild as the existing trailer veneers. i have
found that some white oak veneers are closer to the grain structure. oak and
ash are very much alike. as to matching the stain, thats much tougher. i
tried a number of times to get it close and never did make it. i later
decided to use a furniture refinisher fluid and remove some of the existing
finish. i then applied a golden oak stain with a poly finish coat. its a
touch darker and a little more golden but now all the surfaces look
consistent be they old or new replacements. depends on how much of a
accurate restoration you are looking for. good luck
