Alex,
 Others have pointed out that you can buy or convert generators to run on
propane instead of gasoline. There's one other factor to bear in mind: Fuel
Consumption. As propane is lower in heat value than gasoline, more is
required to operate the genset with a given load. It's not nearly as
convenient to refill propane tanks as it is a portable gas can, either.

OTOH: the exhaust IS cleaner with propane, and the engine will usually last
longer.

Try to get a quiet genset, your neighbors will thank you.
