One thing about propane in RV appliances, it pretty much burns all or
nothing.   If you were smelling LPG, and the pilot was was staying lit, then
it has to be a leaky source.  By any chance were you using the Black water
holding tank?   That, uh, smell,  fools many people into thinking it is a
gas leak.

As for the pilot, the manual has how to adjust it, but it shouldn't be all
yellow, but yellow with a blue envelope, about 5/16"long.
