Re: [VACList] marine plywood sources
I n Columbia SC there should be no provlem in getting fir exterior plywood in
A-C gradethe only defferance between that grade and marine is that 3-4in is
thsat marine is 7 ply and fer ext is 5 ply and marine has no voids in the
inner core the glue is the same.If you love to spend money go for marine both
will rot equaly as quicl unless protected especally the end grane as moisture
will wick into yhe end grane andmolr and start the rotting process.I suggest
treating end grane with epoxy.
I would never in my wildest derams concider jelcoatong the bath fixtures. Jel
coat goes on very routh the only it is smothe on new products is that they
are made in a polished female mould. when we rejel coat boats we use interior
jel and spend many hours sanding and buffing to obtain a smothe serface.
Refinish with a 2 part epoxy it will prove in the long run to be more
durable.
