The material you are pulling out is old Vulkem. Airstream has traditionally
used Vulkem to seal their windows. On some between the frame and skin and
on most as an "eyebrow" application to act as a second seal against run
down the sides. Another material that can be used (which we use) rather
than Parbond Aluminum is Alcoa's Gutter Seal.
