Joy, wouldn't it be possible to fabricate a bolt-on shock mounting plate so
it isn't necessary to weld something on the axle tube? I'd think a bolt on
bracket of some configuration would have adequate strength since the shock
itself is attached by a stud and bolt. Axles are commonly attached to leaf
springs by "U" bolts so welding isn't a requirement for structural integrity
I wouldn't think.
