It was cost when I was in the boar business we priced both and foam is much 
cheeper because it does not need to be fabricated just cut to size from 
larger sheets also the odd shapes we needed made any other kind impractial. 
the foam I used in the Silver Abaltross is super. very comfortable and eaves 
with 4in thickness I cannot feel the wood underneath. something that would 
have been unheard of 20 years ago
