This tape is to be used on tapered (pipe thread type) fittings only, not
on flare fitting threads. An example of where it should be used is the
threads where the flex hose screws into the regulator. An example of
where it should NOT be used is the other end of the flex hose, the end
that screws into the propane tank. Wipe the female tapered surface
inside the tank valve clean, wipe the male tapered surface on the end of
the hose clean, and put a tiny bit of vaseline or plumbers grease on the
mating surfaces if you want a really good seal. But don't use teflon
tape on the threads, or on other flare fitting threads in your gas
system. It serves no purpose, and if a piece gets on the sealing surface
it may cause a leak.
