I have a 1977 Dometic, and it works fine so far.  Only had it some 3 weeks.
The freezer will get down to 0*F.  It works off propane and 120V.  Hope this
helps.  I see no need to replace it yet.  Knock on wood.  If you cap off a
line, use some liquid soap and water to see if there are any leaks.  I have
a propane detector and a CO detector inside now.  Your nose might be more
sesnsitive.
