I finally found the stuff and applied it about half an hour ago.  I'm not 
too optimistic, partially because the tip of the cylinder is so hard to grab 
and if it gets chewed up, it won't mate with the vent.  All this presupposes 
that the cylinder will free up with "super rust penetrant" which is now 
marketed under the "Gunk" name.
