Bob,

Reducing the number of links that are being used on the weight distribution
bars transfers weight from the rear of the tow vehicle to the front. It will
also transfer weight from the tongue onto the axles of the trailer. It has
the effect of lifting up at the rear of the tow vehicle and front of the
trailer. Increasing the number of links will reduce the amount of weight
being transferred.
