My 66 Safari's water heater was so clogged up that I drilled through four
inches of calcium deposit.  That stuff is strong enough to coat the nose
cone on a space shuttle.  Unless your hot water heater works very well with
lots of pressure I would replace it AND the lines to your bathroom and
kitchen.

I can't tell you how bad it can get.
