I use a Socket card (http://www.socketcom.com/product/dpc.htm). They have
models for most web-enabled phones. I can check my email directly just using
my cell phone, but the writing is pretty small. The Socket card plugs into
either my handheld PC or my laptop. I use Sprint as my cell phone provider
and have found that using them as my ISP with the cell phone is faster than
going through Earthlink (my "home" ISP).
