Roger, I was/am strongly considering installing the SmartTire system but one
of your comments has cooled my enthusiasm. You said you would hear a
blowout/wheel well thrashing before the alarm went off. If that is the case,
I don't see that the system serves a very useful purpose since my reason for
having the system would be to prevent the wheel well thrashing. I can
understand that running over something in the road that cuts a tire and
causes an immediate  blow out can not be detected before the fact but aren't
a lot (most) blow outs and tire shredding the result of heat build up from
running under inflated? If the SmarTire doesn't warn about that condition
I'm not interested in one.

What is a blowout detecting system and would one prevent damage to the wheel
well assuming the rig was being driven at typical highway speed? Maybe
that's the kind of system I have in mind.

The customer service lady I spoke with at SmarTire said I would need two
systems and two displays inside the truck to monitor the truck tires as the
two systems operate on different frequencies. I think they have a system
that would monitor six wheels for a triple axle trailer so such a system
possibly could monitor a double axle trailer and two tires on the truck --
or I suppose all four tires on the truck and a single axle trailer.
