[VAC] Which Break Controller (maybe a Tekonsha?)

I see that I need to install a break controller, isolator under the hood,
and a connector on the back of my pickup. (to tow a 1970s era Airstream
with electric breaks)

While at Camping World, I looked at three break controllers made by
Tekonsha. I don't know the first thing about break controllers and I don't
want to buy the first one I pick up with out knowing anything.

Can anyone recommend a brand or model number to me? Is the Tekonsha as
good a unit as most? Any brands better than others? I would rather spend a
little more money and get a good brand then save some money and buy a low
end unit. I will most likely do the install myself. I have a 1972 Ford
Camper Special and I will probably tow a 25 to 30 foot Airstream with
electric breaks.

Isolators and old Airstream connectors.......

I see that isolators are sold by amp ratings that match (or are rated
above) the amp rating of the alternator (70 amps, 95 amps, 120 amps, etc).
As I plan on doing some boondocking, I am getting the alternator on my pick
up swapped out for a larger one (100 amps). I know that I will need to run
a *big* cable from the isolator to the connector on the back of my pickup
to prevent voltage drop.

About what size is the largest wire I can run to a 1970's era Airstream
connector? I am talking about the connector used between the tow vehicle
and the trailer.

Do folks with older Airstreams swap out the 1970's era connector on the
trailer for a modern one? Or do you use an adaptor?

I suspect all the amp upgrading will be for not if I don't also upgrade the
wire from the trailer connector to the trailer battery. Yes?

Thanks to all for the advice. I am new to this and trying to find my way.
