[VAC] Re: Hydraulic Brake Conversion

Rather than cobble on an old axle where the axle is a conventional
straight or drop center axle on leaf springs, why not go to Northern
Tool or a horse trailer shop and buy a NEW axle with modern brakes
already mounted and save all the machining. At the most, one could start
with some steel tubing, some spindles with brake plate flange, and have
a welding shop make a custom width. The least expensive brake sets may
use a different wheel mounting than the original Airstream but that just
means wheels are far more easily acquired.
