[VAC] Re: 1968 Cabinet/Bulkhead Finish

Make darker stains by applying twice, wiping less. Or add artists OIL
(not acrylic) colors to the stain. A little black will simulate some of
the sun darkening, more raw or burned sienna will probably add the dark
honey color.

For a greater variety of stains and Watco, hunt for a shop that caters
to woodworkers and cabinet makers. You can find artists colors in hobby
shops and university book stores as well as art supply stores.

Between burnt sienna, raw sienna, and black you can just about match any
wood stain you wish. Mix the oils on something like plexiglass or glass
that won't soak them up to get the color then dilute with odorless
mineral spirits to make a stain. Craftsmen have been doing that for
centuries to make stains.
