Don,

If I understood your earlier note you are pumping into a capped line.  Try
removing the cap (with the pump off) and replacing the cap with a hose to lead
the water from getting where you don't want wet to happen, and turn the pump
back on.  It should pump.  A clog in the intake should only make the pump lug
down (might blow the fuse if left lugging too long a time), back pressure
against the switch will stop it.
