Jim Greene     Hi Jim     I learned the hard way...that not only ball size
important but so is shank size......I had been to a rally in Elkhart so thought
I would pop over to Reese and have the hitch just checked out (many long years
ago) and was I ever shocked when they showed me that the shank on my ball was
cracked and the ball could have popped off at any time.....I had been at a RV
place the year before and
the ball was rusting so they replaced it and this one had a smaller
shank...which being a woman I guess I didn't know the difference.....I sure do
now.     I carry an extra ball with me at all times just in case I would ever
see another crack.....but have given mine to a couple of other A/S when they
discovered their balls with cracked shanks
(just have to remember to repace the extra one I carry).    Years ago  Cash
Barber would check all hitches during the time  A/S carvans were at their
starting point and he found many needing replacement before people headed out on
