You certainly could.  I believe that's just what our
beloved Scott and Lise Schuermann did.  The idea of
painting the trailer with another color might get
cringes on this list, but there is a faction I'm sure
who'd consider painting the top white as was often
done in the 50's and 60's to conserve energy.  

You know what?  A white top would be a period-friendly
enhancement - I'm all for it.
