[VAC] Re: Airstream prejudice: AGE

Yes, I'd rather they DID care. But things can be rather lax around here in
rural America. Like with a lot of things, it's best to know what you are
doing, and do things yourself. You have to be careful at auto inspection
stations too. I like to inspect my own vehicles even though we have annual
safety inspection. Sometimes I've wondered if they actually inspected
anything at all ....besides the fee chart, that is. One propane tank I had
filled a while back was leaking. I would think that the guy that filled it
should have noticed that fact ....but he didn't. That's my tank that has
the OPD valve in it now. (It's fine now). It's better to be safe around
propane. I never leave propane tanks disconnected. I've had too many kids
to leave them unattended and disconnected! Other than that, none of the
propane guys seemed to be convinced that OPD valves were necessary... I do
agree that all new tanks should have them, but mandatory conversion of all
tanks, regardless of whether or not they are operating properly is
burdensome and unreasonably expensive ...especially here in rural America
where $10 per hour is a GOOD wage.
