[VAC] Does '62 Bambi need an Equalizer hitch?

I tow my 2000 lb. 1962 16 ft.L.  Bambi with a 3200 lb
.14 ft. L. 200 h.p. Jeep Cherokee. The Bambi came with
an equalizer hitch with 1" bars. I have never seen
another Bambi with an equalizer hitch.  The hitch is
set up for a  lower tow vehicle.  If I don't need this
monster I would like to junk it rather than spend a
couple hundred dollars to have it modified to fit the
Jeep.  Any one know if the Bambi really needs this
kind of hitch? Thanks KC
