Jason,
What sort of primer did you use. Did you strip to bare aluminium or paint
over the interior vinyl? (or zolatone?)
Aluminium is notoriously difficult to paint over, needs special etch
primer. Vinyl also requires special paint which bonds with the plastic. If
you use interior paint designed for woodwork, this is designed to
react/combine with wood, and won't work properly with a non-porous surface.
