Install the 12 volt wiring. The 120 volt wiring and circuit protection
isn't suited for 12 volt loads. Small wires and 120 volt fuses or
circuit breakers lead to excessive voltage drop at 12 volt loads which
tend to draw larger currents. AC motors and transformers will not
function on 12 volts but will draw excessive current either killing the
battery rapidly or burning out or both. Switching lamps back and forth
will prove to be a pain, especially when 120 volts is applied with at
least one 12 volt lamp in a socket.
